Dear Parents and Students, Welcome to French and Italian class!

Bienvenue! Benvenuto!

I would like to take this opportunity to let you know how pleased I am to be a teacher at Arts Academy in the Woods and to have your child in my classroom!

Today's youth must be culturally and linguistically prepared to participate in a global society. As nations become increasingly interdependent, the need for effective communication and sensitivity to other cultures becomes more and more important. I believe proficiency in more than one language is essential to meeting this need. My goal as a Foreign Languages Teacher is not only to provide information and knowledge, but also to reinforce my students' culture and positive character. In this respect, the French and Italian courses ensure development of language proficiency, so they can communicate effectively and express themselves with confidence. The four language skills: listening-comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing, and cultural issues are all interwoven throughout our classroom activities. Strong grammar support lays an invaluable foundation for proficiency. A complete audio and video program reinforces the text material and gives students another learning option.

I'm looking forward to a great year working with you, as a successful team, and am sure that learning foreign languages will make a difference in how you see the world and in how the world sees you!

Good Luck! Bonne Chance! Buona Fortuna!

Kindest regards,

Madame/Signora Daniela Herlea
