Sharon K. Hall
School Social Worker
Department of Special Services
Sharon Hall is proud to have been with the Arts Academy in the Woods since its opening year in 2001. She learned about the “new” school from a friend and came aboard as a volunteer. Although she had never aspired to working with teens, young people in the arts had a definite appeal. She has found that the students at the ArtsAcademy are endlessly interesting, delightful, challenging, and inspiring. Ms. Hall is employed as AAW’s School Social Worker. She works with both General Education and Special Education students, individually and in group settings. Watching the personal and artistic transformation of the students over the course of their high school years continues to be a unique and priceless experience.
Ms. Hall has her Bachelors Degree in Education from Marygrove College. She
earned her Masters Degree in Education from the University of Michigan
and her Masters Degree in Social Work from Wayne State University. She
earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology from American Commonwealth
University. Ms. Hall began her career as an elementary school
teacher and also taught adult education in the community college setting. She
left the field of education to work in publishing as an editor for
a number of years. In addition to her school social work, Ms. Hall
works for hospice, the two careers providing a profound experience
of the life cycle. For enjoyment, Ms. Hall plays guitar and
has sing-alongs with friends. She can also be seen on the dance
floor following the calls for an allemande left, or a "dosado" in
area Contra Dances. Ms. Hall is excited about the Arts Academy and
the wonderful opportunities - already here and yet to come - that
the school offers to the entire community.
